The Photography Hunt

We've been hunting for the perfect photographer since before we even got engaged. It's a LOT harder than it sounds!

First of all (and more importantly) we want a photographer that is a true artist. Not just someone with an insane amount of megapixels to their camera. It gets more difficult. Not just someone with style, but someone whose style appeals to us.

Second, it has to be reasonably priced with all the right ingredients into the package. They say if you're having a wedding on a budget you have to make a list of the three things that are most important to you, so they can be your bigger purchases. That way you aren't disappointed in your budget wedding, you feel like you got the things that really mattered.

When we first got engaged we made our list.

  1. Venue
  2. Photography
  3. Dress
But because it's our "splurge item" doesn't mean we should ignore prices altogether.

Photographer A gets a 10 aesthetically but has nothing in the package and only one "shooter." Photographer B gets maybe a 7 or 8 but has 2 shooters, albums, prints, and all sorts of stuff.

How do we choose?!

There are about half a million wedding photographers out there. I'm hoping to get the contract and have that signed and on the way by the end of October. That means a little less than a month.

What next?

Caterers and flowers.
